"Sam and Ryan were amazing to work with during my application cycle. As someone who really struggled with imposter syndrome and often felt lost, Sam never failed to make me feel optimistic. She was not only there for me emotionally, offering consistent encouragement and reassurance, but also helped me figure out the next steps to take. Her guidance was clear and practical, making the daunting process much more manageable. Sam's ability to break down complex tasks into achievable steps gave me the confidence I needed to move forward.
Ryan assisted me with my essays, and especially during the secondary applications, he helped me articulate my ideas even when I couldn't fully express them myself. His insights and feedback were invaluable, transforming my drafts into compelling narratives that truly reflected my experiences and aspirations. Ryan's patience and understanding were crucial during moments of self-doubt, and his ability to elevate my writing made a significant difference.
Thank you, Passport! Without Sam and Ryan, I would not have gotten into medical school. Their expertise, support, and dedication were instrumental in my success."
I had self-doubt just as many other pre-meds, but the Passport crew helped reflect on my strengths and individuality in a pretty nuanced and strategic way. I worked with the best duo of Lyn and Ryan, and I cannot imagine any other formidable team out there! My application cycle was way more successful than I anticipated, cumulatively I received over 10 interviews which translated to 9 acceptances. I would say, trust their direction and I believe you will achieve your dreams through their assistance.
I got 4 interview invites from medical schools and was accepted to all 4 thanks to Passport Admissions! This was my third year applying and I was desperate. Passport and its great advisors provided the structure, expertise, and support I needed to finally reach my goal. Everyone from the owner, Rob, to advisors like Mat, Debra, and Ali, were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I will be using them for residency applications as well!
Both my editor and my advisor got back to me very quickly and were always available to help. I think the most beneficial portion for me personally was the secondary editing. You're hit with such a barrage all at once so getting them done early is essential. Having Ryan's help gave me the confidence to turn them in knowing I gave myself the best chance possible.
Worth every cent. I received 24/7 support from every single person I interacted with. Lyn always put my needs and questions first. She was objective and compassionate. Ryan was my rock. He has a gift for writing. I applied to 47 schools and he helped me with every word of my secondaries. That's superhero status. Rob helped me with my very first interview. Should be a terrifying experience. He made it easy, gave me good feedback, and I was definitely prepared. I am a non-traditional, 5 time MCAT taking, pre-med (now medical student). I have worked hard. But all of that hard work would have been overlooked if I did not hire this team. Forever grateful.
We were referred to Passport Admissions by a good friend, and we cannot recommend them, especially our advisor Lyn Jutronich, more highly. Lyn demystified the college application process for us, and provided invaluable support to our high-achieving daughter, and us, throughout the entire process - from submission of applications to interviews. Not only did Lyn provide expert, wise, and calming advice to our daughter (and us) each step of the way (and at all hours, including weekends!), but she also served as an invaluable life coach/mentor for our daughter when she needed advice beyond what we could give her as parents. I cannot imagine how stressful this process would have been without Lyn's sage advice and great sense of humor, and we're so grateful we had her as our patient mentor throughout. We truly cannot recommend her and Passport Admissions highly enough!
5 stars!
If you're like me, writing can be a daunting task, let alone writing a personal statement (PS). As I've learned throughout my grad school application process, "meh" or "boring" is what you don't want admissions to say when reading your PS. After attending the "Killing Personal Statement" webinar, Rob was clear and concise (not to mention funny!) in deconstructing the process of crafting a PS that allows you to present a compelling story!
Heard of them through a Princeton Review talk. They not only made my application process successful, but also made me feel like I would reach my goal. I know applying to a professional school is expensive with application fees and getting all the required documents. If you're on the fence about spending the money for the services that Passport Admissions offers, then I want to say that it is the best money I spent this cycle. I don't think I would've accomplished what I did without their guidance. Thank you to Rob for providing me with resources and to Ryan Kelly for taking my experiences and helping me present them in the best possible light!
I met Rob at the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference and attended his seminar on how to make your application stand out. I was impressed by his knowledge of the medical school admissions process and decided to stay in touch. I scheduled my free "What are my chances?" meeting with Rob where he goes over your stats, your experiences, and essentially how they think they can help you. I eventually signed up to work with Passport and have been really happy with my experience. They really help you throughout the admissions process and are there to answer any questions you have along the way. I have already recommended them to many of my friends, and I would recommend them to anyone going through this stressful process!
Just joined my first Medical School Webinars, and it was amazing! It was informative, interesting, and Rob took time to answer every single question I had. I definitely feel a lot more prepared for medical school than I did before! Thank you so much Passport Admissions for your services!
These folks know what they are doing! Rob has great enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge about the process.
I found Lyn at Passport Admissions through a recommendation on SDN, and I am so glad I did. During the free 1 hour consult, she gave me advice that led to me getting accepted!
Rob had a masterful way of connecting with our son and quickly developing an efficient and productive relationship. As parents we got out of the way and saw outstanding results quickly. Rob is gifted relationally and knew how to get the best work out of our son and motivate him to complete the arduous college application tasks.
Rob, Ryan, and Alison were essential to my acceptance into medical school. Although my father is a physician, he is a foreign graduate and had no idea how to help me during the application process. My GPA was above average, and although my MCAT was above average, it was heavily skewed, making it a weak spot in my application. After a quick look at my stats, Rob was able to help me develop “my package.” He took all of my volunteer, work, and extracurriculars and helped me develop the best possible angle from which to present myself. Ryan subsequently helped me with every last bit of writing. Everything that was sent to the AMCAS and the schools was perfectly polished. The process even helped me elevate my personal standard of writing. When interviews came around, Alison helped prepare me to answer the difficult questions; she demanded that I be well read and well researched upon entering an interview.
I ended up receiving 9 interview invites. I attended 7 of them and was accepted to 5 of those schools. In the beginning of the process, it was non-negotiable for me to attend a California medical school. Rob was gracious and did the very best he could to help me look at other options. “Just in case” he helped me choose other options that seemed to fit me best. Although I didn’t get into a California school, I am presently preparing for orientation at the University of Miami-Miller (whose average stats are actually higher than mine). Never did I think that this school would be my number one choice, but in the end it was. I am eternally grateful for everything that the staff at Passport Admissions has done for me. They gave me the confidence I desperately needed while applying to medical school.
I can say without a doubt that Passport Admissions has helped me attain my acceptances to medical school. While I didn't (and still don't) believe that I am a poor writer or interviewer, I truly believe that touching up my interviewing skills with Alison and having Kendyl work with me on my primary and secondary essays made my application much stronger. They know exactly what medical school admission committees are looking for, and they know how to bring out the best in your writing and your personal skills. Also, definitely take advantage of the seminars! Even if you already know a little about the information that is being presented, it can never hurt to learn new things, touch up on current interview etiquette, or obtain a detailed list of schools with important statistics. Since the medical school process is so reliant on timing, Passport also kept me on a successful timeline that assured everything was returned in the ideal period of time. Whether you need help from start to finish with the application process or simply want someone to tell you if your personal statement is good-to-go, Passport admissions has been friendly, knowledgeable, and successful in assisting me as I enter medical school. I can't thank you guys enough.
My daughter had a great GPA, ACT score, and extracurricular activities, but I could not motivate her to research colleges, get in contact with admission officers, work on her essays, etc. This changed quickly after starting to work with Rob and Alison. They helped her finalize a great list that included colleges that we probably wouldn't have discovered otherwise, proofread her essays, and gave suggestions on what she could improve. She ended up with a wonderful common application and scholarship application essay, and they helped her prepare for college admission interviews. It would have been a struggle for me to do all this with her, and with the help of Passport Admissions she got into almost all her colleges, including her reach schools. THANKS! We'll see you again next year with our younger one.
Passport works directly with the student to create great essay topics based on each student’s individual history and experiences; Rob reads and reviews most all the essays (definitely the main essay for the common application) but he utilizes his editorial staff that will work one-on-one with the student to formulate and complete the essays and then they will edit them together for the final package. We worked with Rob directly and completed the essays with the assistance of Addy Bednarski.
I heard about them through my neighbor that had two bright boys and they worked with Rob as well. One went to Duke (business) and the other to Georgia Tech (engineering). My daughter did receive a acceptances to all of the colleges she applied to and received honors invitations and scholarships to several of the schools. I don’t believe that would have happened without Rob. Rob will also keep you on top of all financing forms required to be filled out and their applicable due dates. Don’t be afraid of the cost online as you can design your own package to fit your budget. Best money I have spent for my daughter's college selection!
Passport Admissions was amazing. I went into my senior year afraid of the college applications process; it seemed so daunting and complex. A friend recommended Passport, and it was one of the best decisions I have made yet. I worked with Rob, and he was excellent. His support and enthusiasm made the application process easy and fun! I was finished with all my applications well before some of my friends had even begun to fill out the Common App. Passport made the process stress free and successful as well. With their help, I was accepted into my dream school. I recommend it to to all rising seniors, because I could not be more happy with the results. Thank you Passport Admissions!
I am indebted to Passport Admissions for helping me strive for my potential to become a doctor. First of all, I am grateful to Rob for his guidance, support, and unparalleled expertise with the medical school application process. His counsel was invaluable and always offered with patience. To Alison for teaching me the nuances in the art of engaging dialogue and for answering last-minute phone calls, providing the ministry of her presence and comfort prior to interviews. Finally, I am monumentally thankful for my judicious and insightful advisor, Lyn, for reading, re-reading, and helping me edit my essays with time-consuming care. The warmth and unwavering support of my Passport family changed everything, as they deepened the depth and breadth of my application. And brought me where I am today."
I very much enjoyed working with Passport Admissions during my medical school application process; everyone at Passport is extremely helpful and was willing to answer any questions I had at each point of the application process.
It is evident that the team is knowledgeable about the medical school application process in ways that career advisers at my university are not; this encouraged me to feel confident in my application because I was able to gain a unique understanding of the process before submitting my application.
Rob is extremely well researched, straightforward, and strategic in helping each candidate highlight the best parts of their application with the intention of standing out to an application committee. Additionally, I can't say enough about how great it was to work with Kendyl through the writing process of my personal statement and secondary application; Kendyl takes the time to get to know the students she is working with in order to provide guidance that is genuine and unique to each candidate. Additionally, Kendyl pushed me to never settle until each piece of writing was as perfect as it could be. I also very much enjoyed working with Alison in preparation for my interviews; the interview process is intimidating at first but Alison provides a safe and helpful environment to become comfortable with interview questions, as well as the tools each applicant needs to enter an interview situation in a calm and confident manner.
Overall, I highly recommend (and have recommended) Passport to those who are looking for specific, individualized help on the particularly daunting task of applying to medical school; they truly are the experts.
My sister, Kristin Carr, came to the doors of Passport Admissions with outstanding qualifications and a 3.9+ GPA, but a very low MCAT of 28. Rob Humbracht was undaunted and guided her in proper school selection and she received an acceptance at her second choice in medical schools. In the interim, we have made several personal referrals and all those who have applied have received acceptances. A 100% success rate for Rob is quite impressive in the competitive arena of medical school admissions (or anywhere!). When it was time to file my application, it was one of very different strengths and weaknesses than my sister’s. Rob worked to accentuate the positive aspects of my portfolio and develop a completely different medical school list and strategy. I also worked with Alison Herr to improve my interviewing skills which were sorely in need of assistance. I received nine early interviews, three wait lists, and three acceptances to excellent schools by November. The medical school application process is almost impossible to navigate without knowledgeable, professional assistance. I guarantee that even the most qualified, intelligent medical school applicant will have greater success using Passport Admissions. I give them my highest recommendation!
Working with Passport Admissions was a great experience. As an applicant who was just barely competitive for M.D. programs based on my GPA (3.6) and MCAT (30), I knew that any support I could get in submitting a polished application would be a good investment. Passport Admissions did not write any of my essays, but they were a valuable (and well-trained) second perspective that I could confide in. I worked with Lyn who helped me identify where my writing was unclear, where the subject matter or tone may have been inappropriate, or where I made grammatical errors. Most importantly, she helped me sift through the numerous stories and lessons from my experiences as a pre-med to pick those that were the most memorable and illustrative of my character.
While the editing services that Passport Admissions provided were crucial, there were many other ways in which they also supported me. As cliché as it sounds, Lyn helped me feel confident about myself as an applicant; she reminded me that the stories I have to tell make me unique and competitive. Having the perspective and reassurance of someone experienced and trustworthy goes a long way in staying positive during such a stressful process.
Rob was always willing to dig to find answers to my very detailed, general advising questions. Since I paid for all of the Passport services on my own, he worked with my financial situation and offered a flexible payment schedule. Their appreciation of their students is clear in everything they do and the way they treat us. Finally, having someone keep you on task is pivotal to submitting an early application!
To gear up for the interviews, I worked with Alison who was enthusiastic and positive. She was very knowledgeable about the interview process, types of questions often encountered with different interviews (MMI or traditional) and offered great feedback. Again, Alison kept me calm and focused on my goal, despite my restlessness ahead of my interviews.
Even with my meager numbers, I received 5 interview invites and 2 acceptances to M.D. programs. This was the single greatest success of my life, and I can’t imagine having gone through the process without the support of everyone at Passport Admissions. These people will be honest with you. They will help you 'become the best version of yourself' and they will be your friends. During such a grueling process, there is nothing more valuable.
Passport Admissions was crucial to my success as an applicant. As a non-traditional student, I was very anxious about applying to medical school, because I didn’t have the health career services available to most undergraduate students, or department letters of recommendation, or, well, anything else but good grades and test scores... I literally had no idea how to apply to medical school.
Turns out, that didn’t matter one bit. Rob walked me through the year-long process of applying, step by step, week by week (often multiple times), to make sure I knew what needed to be done, and when. Rob told me how to apply before taking the MCAT, which is something I wouldn’t have figured out, and with Rob and Lyn’s help my AMCAS was verified in late July, which was far ahead of the bulk of applicants. Lyn and Rob pushed me to finish my secondary essays so early that I could complete my secondaries the same day I received them, which looks really good to schools. And, with over ten interviews, I definitely benefitted from Alison’s interview prep, particularly with the MMI’s. I felt like Alison’s tips definitely pulled me through some of the trickier stations, and I got accepted at NYU, which uses MMI’s, so clearly something is working!
I would recommend Passport Admissions to anyone who feels overwhelmed by the process of applying, especially non-traditional students. Without the help of health career services from an undergraduate institution, Passport is a must!
Before meeting my editor from Passport Admissions, Lyn, I was terrified. I had over four different essays to write just for one of the schools I was applying to, and I didn’t even have any ideas on where to begin. Writing has always been a challenge for me, but writing about myself was even more daunting. The first time I met Lyn, she was very kind-hearted and made me feel comfortable to share my thoughts. She spent time with me, helping me to come up with ideas and create outlines for each of my essays. She even had me write in front of her for 10 minutes straight, and although I was extremely nervous at first, it got me started, which I have since found is always the hardest part of writing. I soon discovered that I had too much to write and meeting the character limits for the essays was a very difficult task. Lyn has helped me edit and revise my essays numerous times, always adding her insight and improving my writing. Lyn has been very flexible with my schedule, always prompt to respond, and I honestly don’t know how I would have gotten through this application process without her help. I strongly urge you to work with Lyn on all of your application needs!
When I first started applying to med school, I expected my stress level to go through the roof from what I have heard from friends. However, my experience has been surprisingly pleasant and even exciting, and I know this is because I had Rob and Lyn from Passport supporting me through the process. If you have Rob and Lyn as a team, that is the Golden Team. I worried most about how to portray myself through paper to make sure that med schools really got a good picture of who I am as a person, and not just a dry resume. Rob was the Application Master who guided my application to the right direction and helped me choose the right experiences to focus on. If I had any question about the application process, however small, he always had the answers. Then, when med schools ask you to describe yourself and your life under 1000 characters, which is only couple of lines, how are you suppose to do that? But Lyn knew how to. I call her the Word Magician who helped my stories come alive on paper. As a person whose first language is not English, having Lyn who always knew the right words and where to put it was brilliant. My experience with Passport was so rewarding that in fact I have enrolled my high school brother as well to get help with his college application. I wish I was more articulate to express how much I appreciate having their help through this process. It is really hard to care for others as you care for yourself, but I truly felt that they had my back and wanted me to succeed. They really made my application shine among thousands of apps and I highly recommend working with Passport, and with Rob and Lyn in general.
Lyn from Passport Admissions, was such a huge help to my daughter, Lauren, in organizing and completing her college application. She worked extremely efficiently and was able to get so much done in a short amount of time. She helped my daughter brainstorm to come up with great essay topics and helped make the essay writing process stress free. Lauren completed her application in a timely manner and was successful in her college pursuit. Lyn played a very important role in the process.

It has been a pleasure working with Lyn on my medical school application essays. Lyn is thoughtful, patient, and thorough at each step of the process, from brain storming ideas to polishing up the final draft of the essay. She takes the time to learn about the personal details and experiences that make for a great application essay. With Lyn’s help on my medical school application essays, I’m proud to have written a polished personal statement that highlights my unique qualities and desire to pursue medicine.
I am an older prospective student at the age of 43. Rob and his team helped me through the process of applying to Executive MBA programs, which was hard work but a very rewarding and introspective process. I am so glad I used them to help me understand my motives for applying, how much I have to offer to a program, and which best suit my needs. Whether applying for undergraduate or graduate programs I recommend Rob and his team for hands on, face to face personalized support throughout the entire application process through the interview!

Passport Admissions has been an amazing program. They helped me on my school choices, essays, general application advice, and interviews. Their archive of secondary prompts was extremely accurate and allowed me to get a head start on the flood of secondary applications. Without that resource, there is not way I would have been able to turn all the essays in on time. The medical schools said that my personal statement was fantastic, and that is thanks to the people at Passport Admissions encouraging me to make my essay more personal. I would not have been able to do such a great job on the medical school essays without their help. The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful, and genuinely care about the students. They also quickly and completely address any concerns or questions. One of the great things was that everything is personalized from the list of medical schools they recommend you apply to, to the essay editing sessions, and to the individual schools you are preparing for during interview preparation. The practice interview sessions include questions specific to the medical schools you are applying to, which has been amazingly helpful for schools that have tricky interview questions. They also take time to get to know the students well, so they can give you more specific and helpful feedback on essays and interviews.
Overall, the would not have been able to survive or succeed in this process without the help of Passport Admissions. There is so much about the admissions process that you can't find out just by reading the admission books and doing website research. A majority of the schools I received interviews at were schools that have the hardest secondary prompts, and it is thanks to Passport Admissions that the essays were so good. With under a 30 on the MCAT, the medical school advisor at my school told me there was almost no chance I would get into a US school. The counselors and other staff of Passport Admissions believed I could get into medical school with some help. I have had 7 interviews, 2 acceptances, 3 waitlist positions, and I am still waiting to hear back after my recent interviews from 2 more schools. I am pretty sure there will be more acceptances to come. I HIGHLY recommend this program.
I worked with Rob Humbracht and Alison Herr through Passport Admissions and they made the college application process infinitely smoother. I couldn't have asked for people more honest and helpful in helping to shape my application into something that I was very proud of. I felt as if the app process was one of the first chances that I've had to put my entire life on display and Rob and Alison helped me to face that task.
Beyond being personally happy with with my application, I actually got into the schools I've always dreamed of!
If there were five more stars on the ratings bar above I'd give them ten!!!
Thanks guys!
These guys are the ones you want to be working with if you are college bound! They do a through job of matching students with potential schools as well as working closely with both parents and students through the application, essay and financial aid process. I highly recommend Passport Admissions to all families researching colleges.
Let me just state for the record that Passport Admissions has been my backbone through the emotional roller-coaster ride of applying to medical school... they have helped me successfully land five medical school interviews, three acceptances and two waitlist slots (one at a top ranked medical school)... and I could NOT have done it without their help!
I initially found out about Passport Admissions while studying for MCATs with Princeton Review... the day I met with Rob (founder) to go over my application to medical school was the day I knew that Passport would be a great fit for me! Not only could I meet with an admissions counselor/ essay editor at the location of my preference (Princeton Review headquarters, local coffee shop, library, etc..) they offered to provide their services for free if I was unsuccessful at getting into medical school the first round. As any pre-med can attest to: the grueling process of applying to medical school is full of self-doubt and indecisiveness... combined with the pressure of MCAT performance and meticulous drafting the "perfect" application essay (and every subsequent secondary essay from each school applied to) -- it becomes very time-consuming (especially if working full-time)... Passport Admissions definitely was there to keep my on top of it. I could really trust my editors (Rob & Alison) as an expert pair of eyes to edit, critique and proof each of my essays so that I could submit my applications in a timely manner. There are so many steps along the way in this year-long application cycle that it's easy to get overwhelmed, however, Passport kept me focused.
At the end of my first application cycle I was ultimately waitlisted at one of my top-ranked medical schools but was not successful in obtaining an acceptance...despite my disappointment the Passport crew was right back in the game with me - like my own personal coach preparing me for the next round... re-tooling my application and helping me research more schools to apply to for the next round... They were true to their guarantee and helped me get through another round of hell... At the end of my second application cycle I received a total of three acceptances and I am currently waitlisted at a top 10 ranked medical school... I will start medical school this August '11 and couldn't be more excited! Passport Admissions helped me achieve my goal of becoming a physician and despite the rocky process getting there, they were a constant source of motivation and guidance to keep me focused. I will be forever grateful to Alison H & Rob for ALL their tireless hours of editing and coffee shop meetings to get me there. I recommend Passport Admissions to any pre-med who needs the extra boost getting their application together - the application process is very difficult and the investment in this service is WELL WORTH IT!
Passport Admissions is nothing less than fantastic. I've been waiting to go to college since a few months into my freshman year of high school. I had been doing tentative research on my own, but once I was directed to Passport Admissions, everything changed. I met with Rob, my counselor throughout the entire process, and that was when my college search really began.
I was given a very personalized questionnaire, and then every week he would suggest 3 schools for me to research. After researching, I would email him with my feedback on all of the schools, and he would send me another round for scrutiny. While I was in the research process, I would email Rob once a day and almost always got a response the same day. I went through a grand total of 24 schools before deciding to apply to 8. Among these eight schools was my dream school, which was also a reach school. After Rob's suggestion and some serious consideration, I decided to apply Early Decision to this school and I was accepted!
Even though I had applied ED in November, I still went through the process of completing the applications for the other schools, just in case I wasn't accepted. Passport Admissions also paired me with an amazing essay editor, who helped me refine my writing and convey my ideas effectively. I emailed Rob constantly with questions about the Common Application, the different applications, and with new drafts of my different essays. By the time I found out that I had been accepted, I had completed almost all of my other applications. Needless to say, PA helped me get a lot accomplished that I would not have otherwise.
I can honestly say that if it weren't for Passport Admissions, I never would have considered this school. I really didn't know what I wanted before I had some guidance through this process and having this extra help made all the difference.
I am really so glad to that I was able to work with Rob. He was so enthusiastic about the entire process. It was comforting how much attention he paid to my needs and my concerns. I can't even imagine how stressed I would be without someone who knows the process guiding me through it.
What makes Passport Admissions unique is that the program is so personalized. You're not working with adults who act condescending or superior. On the same note, they don't sugar-coat the reality for you. They look at your options realistically. When I decided on final schools to apply to, I knew which schools I was likely to be accepted to (and receive good financial aid packages at) and which schools were a reach. I didn't have to worry about not getting into a school I knew I would fit with. (With the help of PA, I knew that I would have been happy at any of the schools I was going to apply to.)
I would definitely recommend Passport Admissions to any student about to embark on his or her journey through the labyrinth of college applications. In fact, I already have. (I mention them whenever I get the chance.) They were invaluable to me in my search for my perfect school and I would wish the same stress-fress, informed, exciting journey upon any fellow student.

Over the course of several months during my law school application process I received extremely useful, prompt assistance on my personal statement, resume, and several school-specific essays. I was also able to get great advice related to financial aid and other aspects of the admissions process. I worked mostly with Rob, Allison, and Phil, and any time I submitted a question or a revision (of an essay, resume, etc.) I always received feedback within about 24-48 hours, sometimes two or three times per week. The feedback was always honest, extremely constructive, and given in a polite, professional manner.
Passport Admissions employs highly trained and very intelligent professionals who are extremely dedicated to their work. The quality of their coaching is outstanding and after just one meeting I already felt miles ahead of my fellow students also applying to law school.
Passport is extremely unique for one main reason: they are a small, highly trained local business in San Diego who meets with their clients face to face. I researched probably a dozen other admissions consulting companies and none of them are willing to meet face to face and give the sort of individualized help that Passport is willing to give.
The bottom line is that Passport Admissions can provide a solid foundation and comfort during a confusing and difficult time filled with anxiety, which every student experiences when applying to college or graduate school. A student (or parent of a student) can be very confident under the guidance of the staff there, and can be assured that their final application is the absolute best it can be. This is exactly how I felt when I was finally able to begin submitting applications, and I was able to get into an outstanding law school (University of Michigan), and I can say with some degree of certainty that it wouldn't have been possible without Passport.
I heard about Passport through Princeton Review. I was attending an LSAT prep class and saw the Rob’s card in the hallway. I figured that if I were to dedicate myself to LSAT prep so much, the other aspects of my application should be polished as well.
As I have been working in a technical position for 3+ years, the type of writing required for a solid admissions essay was a bit rusty for me. Passport helped me to find my own voice and put it into a concise piece.
Given personal circumstances, I was forced to maintain a somewhat fast paced timeline in my application process for law school. Although I was incredibly stressed in the beginning (before contacting Passport), Rob was very understanding of my timeline and made the whole process much smoother. The constant feedback that I received helped me to progress on my application essays rapidly and gave me confidence in the final product. Rob and staff went out of their way to answer my questions and gave me useful specific advice. Rob has also provided a wealth of knowledge on the application process in general which has helped me to focus my efforts.
As a procrastinator with a busy schedule, passport admissions made it possible for me to stay on track with my statements. I was very overwhelmed by the admissions process. When I came in I had 10 essays to write and each had completely different statement prompts, varying greatly in length and content inclusion. Some programs had 6 page requirements, where they wanted me to write answers to specific questions, while others wanted a single page with a single open-ended question. The thought of writing 10 completely different essays rather than the one generic essay, made me unable to figure out where I should begin. My admissions advisor helped me to start off with a very long essay unique to myself, then helped me to cater and cut down information from the the original that was relevant to each specific program.
My interest in Passport Admissions was initiated by my lack of confidence in my writing ability. With a busy schedule of working fifty hours a week, taking a class, I knew that the time required to write the perfect personal statements couldn't be done without help. I was still hesitant, but after having a free consultation with Rob Humbracht, an admissions advisor, and laying out a plan and foundation, I realized how much work I had left to do and how little time I had to do it in.
Writing my personal statement, was a period of personal growth. While I had a general concept of my interests, the amount that I had to specify led me to a great amount of introspection during the personal statement writing process .It was definitely a lot to think about and I couldn't wait for it to be over, but attending interviews after my applications were submitted, it became clear to me that I had a distinct concept of exactly what I wanted to do and who I wanted to work with.
When I came to passport I was still searching through programs. Brainstorming with my admissions advisor, actually opened up new pathways and interest areas, and established revisions to my selected program list. Through editing tips, I was able to challenge contradictions in my writing, and ensure that I was portraying myself for my unique points, making me stand out from other students.
So far I have been accepted to USC and pepperdine and have had interviews at the University of San Diego, San Diego State University, and Cal State Stanislaus, and am still waiting to hear back on an admissions decision from those schools, as well as New York University and Columbia Teachers College.
I felt lost and ignorant of the application process, and I heard about Passport through a family friend who is a college counselor. [The most valuable part of working with Passport was the] personal statement help and having a trustworthy source of information for the questions I had.
Woof! The admission process is long! It will probably be a full year from when I started the applications to when I know where I will be going/living for the next four years. I wrote many many drafts of my personal statement and was confused on where to go with it exactly. After many drafts and talking to people, I felt unsure of all the help I was getting and went to passport. Through passport I dramatically reformatted my essay and made it much much better. The support I got through passport was wonderful because they really know what they are doing and talking about. The primary was long and tedious and the many secondaries were very annoying. After secondaries I felt great! I loved interviewing and traveling. The little intro to interviewing was helpful (especially to know what I was getting into before my first interview). And I am still getting help from passport - even now while I have questions about acceptances and waitlists. Such great help!
I applied to 28 schools, got I think 26 secondaries, 10 interviews (went to 9 because a school screw up), 2 acceptances (NYMC and Drexel), 5 waitlists (UCSD, NYU, SUNY Downstate, Albert Einstein, Temple), still waiting on one (Davis).
Rob was fantastic! So nice! and so helpful! Quick to respond to my questions, and always giving encouragement.
I initially hired your company because I needed assistance writing my college essays. What I found the most valuable was the timeline with due dates for each college that your office prepared for me. That way, I knew exactly what was needed and when I needed to have it completed. I found the editing of my essays most helpful. I also appreciated discussing what colleges you recommended I apply (and not apply). Everyone I came in contact with was extremely professional, courteous, friendly, kind, and knowledgeable.
The admissions process progressed very smoothly as I knew what to expect (and when to expect it) of the overall college process because of your assistance and guidance. You made me feel very confident that all deadlines would be met for each college I applied, and that all necessary paperwork would be submitted properly. Anytime I sent an email to you, I always received a reply within minutes. This relieved a lot of stress knowing I could count on you to respond to all my questions so quickly. I appreciated that very much. You played an integral part of me being accepted to Carnegie Mellon.
The most valuable thing about Passport Admissions for me was that it helped me realize that there were actually interesting things about myself! I had all these stories and I figured that they were all completely uninteresting from an admissions perspective, but Passport showed me not only which ones were perfect for college admissions essays, but also how to write about them in a way that was both interesting and completely in line with my own writing style.
I chose Passport admissions because I went to a brief overview of the program and really liked the staff. I was really worried about budgeting time between completing applications and finishing my school work and Passport's ability to develop a schedule that would allow me to finish applications over the summer was such a relief! I also liked the fact that I could work one-on-one with someone who was helpful, friendly and dedicated to helping me edit my college essays. In addition, when I first came to Passport I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to apply and loved that Passport would help me find schools to apply to based on what I was looking for out of the college experience.
When I first started the admissions process I was totally overwhelmed by the sheer number of schools out there: big, small, public, private, and I was really unsure of which type would best fit me. Working with passport helped me realize exactly what I was looking for in a college and one of Passport's suggestions, Occidental, actually became one of my top choice schools. I think, like many people, that in the beginning of the process I wanted to apply to all these schools that were extremely prestigious and difficult to get into and so I was worried that I might not be accepted into any, but Passport showed me schools with all the same characteristics of those schools that could be "safety" schools for me, and these were schools that I could genuinely see myself attending. When I began to fill out my applications Passport was extremely helpful with how to use the common app website and the website for UC applications. For my essays I also worked with Alison who was honestly one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met! We went over each essay question for all my colleges and brainstormed ideas that I could write about. She really helped me draw out from within myself what was most interesting about me as a person as well as what I could write best about. She was also vital in the editing process as she caught errors that neither myself nor my parents ever would have seen.
Thanks to Passport and Alison I was actually able to complete my applications before the summer was over so unlike many of my peers the first semester of my senior year was quite relaxing! Passport also had several sessions that aided in how to conduct an interview, what questions to ask colleges on visits and how to appropriately ask for a letter of recommendation from a teacher. Once I was admitted to colleges Passport also researched the campuses for me and helped answer any and all questions I had about the pros and cons of each school. I was accepted into UCSB, Davis, UCLA, Berkeley, Occidental, Willamette, Colby, and Tufts. Right now I am still trying to make my decision between Tufts and Occidental!
Once again, I'd just like to say that Alison was the most amazing person to work with! I felt so comfortable around her and I really got the impression that she cared a lot about my success! I appreciated her input so much in both deciding what to write about and the editing process. I think her help was the most important factor for me in complete my applications and she definitely helped me make my essays way more interesting then I would have made them on my own!
Applying to college is like hiking a new mountain you have never hiked before. The trail is there, and you can do it by yourself, but it is so handy to have someone who can guide you along the way. Passport was like that guide. Writing the essays is like climbing the steep part of the mountain. It is nice to have the encouragement to keep going and get it done. Rob was great - Sal was awesome!
I knew Katarina needed help with her essay. When we met Alison, it seemed Katarina liked her. It was seeing how comfortable my daughter was with Alison at the initial coffee meeting that convinced me. I truly like the fact that my daughter owned the project (essay). Before this one on one essay class, Katarina kept asking me “when will you write my essay?” Alison, was able to get Katarina thinking, writing and coming up with ideas.
I would recommend Alison to many of Kat’s friends. I may even call her again for a last minute one on one.
I decided to hire Passport Admissions because I had heard Rob speak at a Delta Sigma Pi on-campus event at UCSD.
At first, the admissions process was pretty daunting. But Rob broke it down into manageable parts. I even got help with ideas for my employers letter of recommendation.
The most valuable aspect of PA was that Rob was very flexible with scheduling and of course very knowledgeable of the admissions process. The great thing about Passport Admissions is that you know you have an ally in the admissions process. The admissions process is a daunting task but I really felt like I was not in it alone. Rob has a clear vision of how personal statements need to be crafted and it was amazing to see our progress over the course of our meetings.
I can remember specific times that I really needed that extra meeting or I needed an urgent revision to my personal statement. Rob was always willing to help! Rob even offered to meet one day when he was busy buying a new car! I was really amazed at his dedication and willingness to help me out. I get chills just thinking about how the admissions process might have been without Passport Admissions.
Rob is definitely a huge reason why I was admitted to my dream school, with a partial scholarship too! I can't thank Rob enough for his hard work and insightful tips during the admission process. He made the admissions process bearable. During the course of our consultations, I even learned more about myself which translated into a better personal statement!
I returned from Iraq in March 2009 and immediately started preparing to start graduate school in the fall of 2010. I was very unsure of the application process since I had not been in college since I graduated in 1991. I started using every resource available so that I could gain from others experience, i.e. Princeton Review and this is how I found Passport Admissions. When I hired Passport Admissions I was looking for assistance in my application essays and I knew I needed someone with current experience and some depth in grammar and composition, Passport provided this and more. Passport quickly assisted me in framing what it was that I wanted to say and then helped me ensure my arguments to the admissions boards were convincing, concise and answered their questions. I always had access to the Passport team and they responses were insightful and ensured that I presented the best possible face to the admissions committees. In the end I was very impressed with Passport's support and they played a critical role in my being admitted to the full-time MBA programs at Notre Dame, Wake Forest, and the Thunderbird School of Global Management. I hired Passport Admissions for two reasons; one, I needed someone with an understanding of the admissions process to assist my in applying since I have been away from civilian academics for almost 20 years. Second, I attended the orientation brief by Rob and was very impressed with his presentation, knowledge, and positive attitude The most valuable part about working with Passport admissions for me was your ability to pull out my experiences and then assist me in translating them so that they were relevant to a graduate admissions repesentative. Your understanding of my strengths and weaknesses relative to other applicants and in the eyes of admission boards allowed me to focus and refine my application essays to ensure that they were concise, relevant and adequately highlighted "why me."
Zach has mad skills and a gift with the English language!
Our son, Drew, took the Princeton Review class. Through a series of make-up classes and just talking to the helpful staff in the Princeton Review central office they steered us to to Rob with Passport Admissions who almost late for his next appointment, "made" a few minutes to meet with us and tell us a little bit about the program. Immediately, he wasted no time in getting to know Drew. Rob was a quick study and Drew left his first (unofficial) session with Passport Admissions with a good idea of what schools were a fit for him and with a few ideas of topics that he might consider using for his college essays. Drew left the meeting excited and ready to get started! As a parent, I was excited and relieved to know that we were not going this alone. iI knew we were in good hands and that Rob was a very needed member of our college team! Where do I sign up? Before I even found a moment to call Rob with my payment Drew had called him back and was setting up their next, now official, appointment. The staff at Passport Admissions were an incredible resource throughout the entire college admission process (it's longer than you think!) . Initially, not really understanding what services they really provided, the price almost seemed steep but looking back on all the work they did, the breadth of their services, and the great outcome we received, I am convinced they do not charge enough for their services. Not only are they familiar with the college application process and what colleges are looking for- they sincerely care and did everything they could, to help our son.
I had heard horror stories about kids with 4.0's, very good SAT scores and multiple extra-curricular activities that couldn't get into the UC's or other competitive colleges. Though an optimist by nature even I was quite concerned. Our first son had chosen his college based on a handful of schools that offered him very generous scholarships for baseball. Drew was not restricted to a handful of schools and had quite a wide assortment of ideas from California, to Washington state to Washington DC and no-where really in between. Rob and Drew together came up with a very clear list of 8 colleges that would be great fits for him- this is a feat in and of itself!!!! It included schools that were a fit, a reach and for absolutely sure (safety schools). Having all 3 can not be emphasized enough!!! Together they also came up with some clever, unique to Drew college essay ideas that only a fresh new person can distill from their own story of their own journey to this point in their life. I always felt a part of the process but enjoyed being a team member rather than Chief Nag. After Rob and Drew reached this point we were told that someone else would get involved to help with the essays and the actual nitty gritty of the various applications (all with their own nuances...). Oh no, see it was too good to be true- we were being handed off to someone less experienced and knowledgeable than Rob. Right??? NO- Drew was fortunate to work with Allison next. She was awesome as well- together Drew and Allison laid out an elaborate calendar of deadlines that represented a merging of 8 individual schools timelines.
I needed help, fast. With the deadline almost a month away, I needed someone who could tell me what I needed to be doing.
The planning out of actually writing out the essays was the most helpful for me. Before, it just seemed like I needed to write 15 essays in 2 weeks, but once I sat down with Alison, it all organized itself.I had no idea where I was going, or even which one I wanted to go to the most. I just had a list of schools that my counselor had compiled for me. Passport helped me go through the list and make sure that I actually liked all of them. Then, we created a time schedule based on the amount of essays that needed to be written. I followed the schedule closely, and Passport helped me place my essays, in other words, which essay for which school. We did tons of edits, fine-tuned essays, and they all sounded great. Finally, I was ready to fill out the application forms and click submit. Phew, what a sigh of relief! So far, I have been accepted to Boston College, Emerson College, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Global Liberal Studies Program at NYU.
I LOVE ALISON HERR. She was enthusiastic and even when things looked bleak, was totally supportive and never down! She was always smiling. Her edits always made sense and she saw things I never would have been able to see in my essays.
I started with Passport very late in the game. When I was doing my applications there came a point where it felt like there was no way I would finish any of them by the deadline. I had heard of Passport through a Princeton SAT Review class so I looked them up online. I talked with them on the phone for a couple weeks and I decided that they would be the best option for me to help me with my applications. All the advisors at Passport seemed extremely competent and experienced.
Like most teenagers I waited until a couple months before the deadline to start my applications. When I finally started I still procrastinated. Alison helped me organize everything and get it done. I felt relaxed and calm knowing that she was always there to lend a hand! Alison was extremely helpful in the process, helping me edit my essays and fill out extracurriculars, etc., she even introduced me to my dream school, which is also the school I will be attending next fall, Reed College!
It really brought out the best in me, and made my applications the best they could be. With Passport I always felt that I was in great hands. They did not write anything for me or try to mold me into something I was not, but directed me in a direction that was entirely original and personal to me, which is what colleges love to see. Passport will provide you with the support you need to bring out the best in you during those stressful months.
Working with Rob was an absolute pleasure. The more I began to research the admissions process for myself, the more I realized how much there was to know. I honestly don't think I would have retained my sanity throughout the admissions process if it were not for Passport's support. From a wonderful editor to the ability to call or email someone essentially any time of day, I believe Passport was the catalyst that drove my application from good to excellent, and I actually enjoyed working on my application; I am still friends with both Rob and my editor and remain in contact with them. When all was said and done, I ended up at one of my dream schools (not only a top ranked school, but an excellent fit for me) and I don't think I would have pulled it off without Passport. I honestly can't recommend them enough, and perhaps the best endorsement I can give is that my younger brother is now beginning to work with Passport.
I signed up with Passport after attending, and being very impressed by, two of Rob's evening "introductory" sessions. Not having been a high school senior for about 40 years, I was pretty rusty on the admissions game, plus my high school senior attends a very sweet small school with little to no college planning expertise. My primary goal while looking into admissions help was to find an admissions counseling group that could recommend a suite of schools to which my son could realistically expect admission, while maximizing the amount of financial aid offered, as college financing is a very difficult issue for our family. And, it had to be a program I could afford.
The most valuable aspect of working with Passport was] the depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding about what is and isn't important to the college admissions process, both in general and for a huge variety of individual schools, shared in great detail with great enthusiasm, with near-instantaneous email and/or phone feedback for any and all questions, regardless of how naive, stupid, or unnecessary :)
Rob and Passport Admissions have consistently exceeded my hopes, providing very accurate advice about various appropriate (and unappropriate, or more realistically, un-obtainable) schools given my particular child's academic record, extremely helpful applications workshops and essay reviews, and unflagging encouragement througout the dreadful college applications process. We are now in the midst of acceptance season, and things are going very well, with one of my son's top-choice schools having offered him nearly full-tuition in financial aid. Rob's advice during the application process has been extremely accurate and helpful.
We thought your assistance was very valuable. All of the effort that you and your staff put into "teaching" us about the college application process was amazing. I don't know how we would have gotten through this arduous and confusing process so successfully without your help.
We were so thrilled that AJ was accepted by 8 of the 9 schools to which he applied. He was accepted by UCSB, UC Davis, CalPoly, UC Riverside, Sonoma State, Cal State Long Beach, UC Santa Cruz, and San Jose State. In fact, these were his top 8 choices.
The college admissions process is extremely difficult and stressful. There are countless essays, short answers, and statements to write. Before I found Passport Admissions, I really struggled. I would rewrite my essays countless times, never knowing if I was really improving. But then I started working with Passport Admissions and they helped me find my way. I would come in with my essays, we would critique them, and then I would leave with a “to do” list of the specific things I needed to accomplish before next week’s meeting. **Passport Admissions gave me a sense of order and the ability to see with clarity the next step on a long, undefined, pathway.**But besides just helping me find organization and clear steps towards my goals, they helped me improve my applications tremendously. For example, most applications only let the applicant put down a few words about each extracurricular activity, which doesn’t really allow students to explain or share about themselves. Passport Admissions helped me to create a supplemental “activity chart” where I could really explain my extracurricular activities, helping my application become a more accurate representation of me. Without Passport Admissions, I never would have realized that I could do this as well as a variety of other things that really improved my applications. It was invaluable to have someone with experience in the college admissions arena look over my applications with a critical eye. Throughout the process, I often took my essays to other people to get their opinions, and they always said, “It’s fine.” But the individuals at Passport Admissions would really spend the time necessary to help me to go through my essays thoroughly. They would offer critique and suggestions on everything ranging from grammar and word choice to topic and main ideas, all with an emphasis on writing towards the specific audience of admissions officers. So, the most valuable aspect of working with Passport Admissions is that now, as I am waiting to hear back from the colleges to which I have applied, I have the confidence that I submitted the very best applications that I could.
I really feel that I would not have been as successful in this college admissions process without Passport Admissions. I’ve never had a more stressful time in my life than first semester of my senior year. The college process is so much more difficult, time consuming, and stressful than I ever could have imagined, and working with Passport Admissions made all the difference.
I applied to 14 colleges, and so far I have been accepted to UC Davis, USC, Villanova, the College of William and Mary, and Texas A&M with offers of a full-tuition scholarship to both Villanova and Texas A&M, as well as an invitation to compete for a $20,000/year scholarship to USC. So far, so good!"
Passport was an essential part of my application process. They made everything so easy by taking so much off my plate and saving me a lot of time organizing. Lyn, Rob, and Ryan were all amazing through different parts of the cycle and I can't quantify the time and stress they saved me. I would highly recommend Passport to anyone going through medical school applications. With their help I was accepted into multiple schools including a top option to stay in California.
Rob's interview coaching was amazing! We did a mock interview and he was really able to dissect my strengths and weaknesses, even sending me a list of feedback afterwards with tangible advice. I really appreciated how he didn't just drill questions, but also asked follow-up questions to my responses. This resembled my actual interview, which was very conversational.
Most importantly, he was very reassuring. He was really able to point out my strengths and give me confidence for my interview. One tip for maximizing the value of this interview: do a little bit of prep even before the mock interview just so you have a few anecdotes to talk about! That way, it'll feel like the real deal and Rob can give you the best feedback.
Thanks to Rob and Passport Admissions, I was prepared for my interview and landed an acceptance at my top-choice school! Super grateful for their help.
Rob is an honest expert in the advice he gives and the way he helps students. He consistently stays on top of the trends in both graduate and undergraduate admissions and is able to pass that advice on to those students who work with him. We both are in the business of helping others apply to college, so, technically competitors, but Rob is a collaborator who reaches out to colleagues helping to make us all better. I think much of his success comes from his natural charisma and his ability to clearly articulate a message both verbally and in writing to groups and individuals. My colleagues and I all sit up a little straighter and pay a little more attention when Rob speaks, and students not only love working with him, but find success!
I met Rob at the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference in 2016 while attending his presentation on how to enhance your medical school application to make it stand out more to schools. I ended up taking the leap and working with them, and I received 9 interview invites and 5 MD acceptances. I am currently almost done with my first semester at a competitive CA school. Passport helped me strategically pick out my schools, edit my personal statement and all of my secondaries, and prep for my interviews. I truly don't think I could have done it without them. Thanks Rob & Passport Team!
I am a re-applicant who got an interview last year and made it on the alternate list. I am a non-traditional student and found the initial process of applying to medical school pretty frustrating. There are a large number of steps, vague and broad instructions, and very little information shared by admissions offices (don't even bother looking on the internet for instructions).
Passport Admissions was an incredible help as I put together my application. They helped me think about what I really wanted to share and how I wanted to share it. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the admissions process and I am so thankful for their support. Med school admissions is expensive, as is med school, so it's not the easiest decision to spend more on application guidance, but the money is well worth it. I already have eight interviews, two acceptances, and one position on the alternate list!
Rob is very honest and knowledgeable in his advice and editing. Best of all, he truly cares about his students. Highly recommended.
I found Lyn at Passport Admissions through a recommendation on SDN, and I am so glad I did. During the free 1 hour consult, she gave me advice that led to me getting an interview at my dream school (where I am currently enrolled to begin this Fall, thanks to her). I then took advantage of the interview prep package and I'm so glad I did. I had prepared for my previous interviews by doing a few practice ones at my undergrad school, but Lyn's help took my skills to the next level-- her feedback was much more specific and personalized than I had received from my school's advisors. I felt confident throughout my interview day at my dream school and was accepted a few weeks later. I heartily recommend Passport Admissions and wish I had sought them out earlier than I did.
When I first began the long and daunting process of applying to medical school I had very little idea about how to start. I found Rob H. through a glowing recommendation by a friend. With Rob's help he had just gained admission to UCSD medical school. When I first met Rob I was surprised with his no nonsense approach to my application. He mapped out a detailed plan with me in regards to attacking the application process. It was a lifesaver. To go through the process with someone who had been through it so many times was very comforting. If I could choose one thing that I would highlight about his approach is his honesty. In a time where I had trouble finding an honest opinion about what I needed to do to gain admittance to medical school he let me know exactly what I needed to do.
I can't speak for all their members, but Rob really does care for pre-meds and is quite knowledgeable. I would highly recommend their seminars and attend their events!
